The Simple Things

Today, my thought process for "What I'm Loving Wednesday" is a little bit different. Yes, I still love my husband, my new nail polish, that Brad picked Emily, etc...but today is different. Today I am content.

I spent time with some of my best friends from college yesterday, along with their sweet babies. It was simple. It was joy. It was life, pure and sweet.

We sat on the back porch, we watched babies shriek and squeal and play. We kissed scrapes and bumps, we ate pickles and cookies, we felt the sun on our skin. We blew bubbles and watched the babies try to catch them. We talked about life and marriage and God...we lived the way that life is supposed to be lived. Slow and simple, with lots of joy. And it was good. Life was good. No technology. Just us, sun, grass, and sky. Life from a babies view is so much sweeter.

A smile just isn't complete without cookie crumbs.

Clothing optional (for the babies).

On the way home, I heard a song that I've heard several times. I've sung along to it before. This time, I heard it differently. God laid it on my heart...I sung it as if my life depended on it.

Sometimes I,
I just want to close my eyes
And act like everyone’s alright
When I know they’re not.
This world needs God
But it’s easier to stand and watch.
I could pray a prayer and just move on
Like nothing’s wrong.

But I refuse.

‘Cause I don’t want to live like I don’t care.
I don’t want to say another empty prayer.
Oh, I refuse to
Sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself.
Oh, I could choose
Not to move but I refuse.

I can hear the least of these
Crying out so desperately,
And I know we are the hands and feet
Of you, oh God.
So, if you say move,
Then it’s time for me to follow through,
And do what I was made to do.
by Josh Wilson

That is my desire...to stop living selfishly and live as God has called. To spread His word and help this hurting world. I am blessed. Not everyone is so blessed.

If you haven't heard this song, I highly recommend it.

Love, love.

What an amazing post, Megan (: It's so true...we are blessed and need to spread our love in order to bless others. God calls us to that. I love what you said about singing a song like our lives depend on it. Wouldn't that be how Jesus would want us to worship him always? I think so (: I'm proud of you for this post. You are beautiful inside and out.

Now get your bootie to target and buy a laptop camera (;

It's those precious moments that we all need in our daily lives. Some times we get so caught up in our 'routine' and forget about the quality time we need to stay sane. Love this, and your pictures are beautiful :)

I really love this post, and love you! Life looks so much different when we slow down and truly see what's important. When we truly see the hurt, the lost, and the needy. I want to love the world the way I've been called to love it. I don't want to just skim the surface. I really want to love. Thank you for this sweet post, friend. I need a reminder of what really matters! So thankful for you!

Perfectly said, Megan.

We make life too complicated...and ultimately, it's not about us.

I'll have to search for that song. Awesome lyrics.
