I'm a Stepford Wife

My title is true.

Except...today is opposite day. (Remember playing that in 4th grade?)

So unfortunately that makes it false.

Remember that movie The Stepford Wives?

Basically it's about perfect (robotic) wives. Yeah, I am not one. This does not come as a shock to me, but I decided that maybe it is time to change my ways. Yesterday my hubby said, "Hey baby, do you think that you're gonna cook a real meal anytime this week?" He said this honestly, not sarcastically or meanly. Yikes. My poor husband has to ask if I am going to cook one actual meal over the whole week. That's shameful.

In my defense, I keep a really clean house!! : )

So, yeah, let me just get that out in the open. I don't cook. It's not that I can't. I just don't enjoy it. I like to bake, but I hate to cook. I usually say "It's not my fault" because I work 12 hour days and my hubby is gone a lot of nights at work. I am going to stop saying that because I have met tons of wonderful bloggers who work lots of hours and crazy hours, yet still manage to cook. Dang this blog world, it makes me feel bad. Haha. Just kidding, loves!!

Sometimes I have whole days off and promise myself that I am going to go grocery shopping. It almost never happens. Let me walk you through my days off:

- Rise and shine (around noon...eeks)
- Sit in my rocking chair and eat breakfast (yes, I eat breakfast at noon)
- Turn on Lifetime
- Open up my computer...check emails and blog
- Get hungry for lunch
- Realize that there is nothing in the house for lunch
- Blog some more
- Eat random food for lunch
- Think about going grocery shopping
- Vomit after thinking about it
- Blog some more and continue to watch Lifetime
- Make poor hubby eat tuna when he gets home

That is what my days off are like. Except sometimes hubby doesn't come home, so I just snack on whatever I can find all day long. I'm sorry, @PeasandCrayons, don't hate me!

So here's where I need y'alls help. PLEASE share any cooking/shopping/menu planning tips that y'all have with me. Better yet, tell me to put my big girl panties on (not to be confused with granny panties) and go to the dang grocery store! I eventually want to be a stay at home mom, so I need to trick convince my hubby now that I will be serving him delicious meals. Maybe if I had some friends to grocery shop with I'd like it?

That's not what y'all look like when y'all grocery shop? ; )

Seriously, any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Love, love!

PS: Before anyone tells me to make my hubby cook, my hubby works more than I do AND has a side job AND does all the house and lawn maintenance. That's why I consider cooking and cleaning to be my job.

PPS: He NEVER gripes about me not cooking either. He's amazing!

La...La...Lingerie

I figured that I better continue our love story and our journey to the wedding so that I can hopefully have it finished by our 1 year anniversary. (#procastinator) I'm going to give Rhi over at Hey Gorgeous the credit for inspiring me to finish it because she continually posts the most amazing wedding recaps. : )

I was super blessed to be given several showers by friends and family. I did a few recaps of them way back in the day, like when they actually happened. I decided to start with my lingerie showers and go forward. Yes, lucky me had two lingerie showers. Actually, that makes lucky hubby. ; ) My coworkers threw one and I have absolutely no pictures from it. (#shameful) My college besties threw the other one and it was amazing!

My amazing friend, Melissa, is the greatest party-thrower and always does something unique and creative. It was a small and intimate shower full of laughs, love, reminiscing, and squeals. As I sat there among my best friends in the world, who I truly consider sisters, I remember feeling so emotional and happy. To be surrounded with that much love and support is simply breathtaking. Plus, I got some really adorable lingerie!

The entrance: tissue balls and a diet coke cake. How darling is that cake?

If y'all know me at all, then y'all know diet coke is my love.

The "panty" tree.

Cutest cake ever made. Oh, and super delicious, too!

My best friend, Alyse.

Another of my best friends, Candace.

They did such a fun little "game" at the shower. It was called the panty line and it was basically "my life in panties" or "my panties through the years." They had bride panties, wedding night panties, Valentine's Day panties, 1st year anniversary panties, etc. The last pair was for our 50th wedding anniversary and was a huge pair of granny panties. We seriously could not stop laughing...it was the cutest thing ever.

The infamous granny panties.

My sweet niece, attending her first lingerie shower at 1 year old.

Chug, chug, chug.

All in all, it was one absolutely fabulous day. Hubby truly is thankful for that shower. ; ) TMI? We all spent the night together and left the next day for my bachelorette beach bash. That'll be up next! : )

Have a great Monday!!

Love, love!

PS: Those diet cokes are NOT open in that picture...the baby is not really drinking anything. ; )

Look at that SHINE!

Hey loves! Look what came in the mail the other day...

My SHINE necklace! Woohoo!

Have y'all heard of the SHINE project? Surely so, but just in case someone hasn't, it all started with one amazing woman named Ashley. She decided that we can all do things to change the world and inspire people...every single day. In her words, "I'm a firm believer that we're all here to SHINE, and that's just what I intend to do." She chose the word SHINE as her theme for the year and created a blog to challenge others to join her. Each week she does challenges that are designed around making others feel good. I have been guilty of reading and supporting Ashley's blog, but not participating. I want to change that. Seriously, go and check her blog out. She's inspiring and gorgeous. (I just hate people like that) ; )

The adorable packaging of my necklace.

I. was. happy.

Ashley was SO sweet and put our anniversary date on my necklace.

My attempt at being artistic...thanks #hipstamaticapp.

So, here's the deal...I think that y'all should all buy a SHINE necklace because 1) they're adorable and 2) $1 from every necklace goes to a scholarship fund. Pretty jewelry + helping educate someone = win.

Go and check out Ashley's blog and join in the fun...we all need to SHINE a little! : )

Love, love!

My Dearest Froyo

Did you think that this post was going to be about froyo? It's not. Promise. I've moved on.

Not really, but I understand that not everyone wants to talk about froyo all day. Sigh.

Anyway.

I had a dream last night. We were on our second honeymoon for our one year anniversary. It was aaaaaaamazing. The weather was perfect, the beach was divine, my swimsuit was hot pink, my stomach was flat, my sexy hubby was with me, and there was delicious froyo food everywhere. (Like how I threw that one in there? Gotcha!) ; )

I woke up from my dream just drooling over a vacation. Right now, I'd take anywhere. I got online to look at the Sandals Negril resort that we are going to for our trip, but then I realized that I have looked at those pictures obsessively one million times. I started googling (Yes, Blogger, that is a word) other resorts and stumbled onto this little gem in Bora Bora. Perfect for a beautiful Friday. Enjoy.

All pictures via

Yes, that is a glass bottom floor that y'all see. (Ignore creepy man swimming underneath.)

What do y'all think? Awesome or scary? I'm not sure that I could walk/sleep on a glass floor. I'd be worried about it breaking...or about said creepy man swimming up to take a peek. Don't get me wrong, I'd definitely give it a try though! : ) Who wants to loan me $1000 a night for it? I'll only stay 5 or 6 nights. Maybe 7.

Love, love!

No Madness Over Here...

As my title says, there has been no madness in this household the past few days. There has been work. Work and sleep. And sometimes food. Definitely froyo. ; ) I am random today...just a warning!

Here is what I ate yesterday:

- Breakfast = banana
- Lunch = salad
- Dinner = froyo.

I'm seriously addicted. Froyo = my bff. I wonder how many times I can say froyo in this post. At least it's healthy, right? Somewhat healthy? A little bit healthy? Right, twinnie?? Oh and normally I eat way more than that...it was just a super busy day at work!

Tomorrow I start my new title...Clinical Educator for the Emergency Department! Woohoo! I will still be working as a nurse on some days, but once or twice a week I will have "office" days. I'm excited.

All of my Zoya nail polish came in...it was 2 for the price of 1! I can't wait to try them out!

A bunch of people have asked me to take a picture of the black shatter nail polish. This is the best one that I could get. Notice on my index finger how it chips/fades? I think I need to try it over another color.

So y'all know how girls get so addicted to tv shows...like the Bachelor??

Here is Cashie girl staring at Brad...I think she's in love. ; )

Thanks for riding my crazy train of thoughts today!!

Have a great day!!

Love, love!!

PS: I wrote this post at midnight last night. Reading over it this morning before I post it, I think I might have been off my rocker last night. Still love me...please. : )

Dogs + Shopping + Food

Thank y'all SO much for all the sweet and supportive comments on yesterday's #crazywife post! Isn't it nice to know that we are ALL crazy sometimes? Let's just agree that women are typically the more dramatic sex!

As y'all most likely know (since I have mentioned it ten billion times), this past weekend was our 6 month wedding anniversary. We got to enjoy lots of time off together, tons of delicious food, and some flea market shopping. Here are some pictures from our weekend:

Hubby putting together our new bathroom furniture...with the help of the bunnies!

Sweet Cashmere "looking" innocent.

Diesel boy...using a pillow. Y'all can't tell me that he doesn't think he's human.

On Saturday morning, we went to a once a month flea market/small shop market in Texas. It was definitely interesting, to say the least. There were TONS of people and tons of booths. Some booths were actually stores and some booths were people selling random junk...like old school lunch trays. I kid not. We learned quickly that people take their shopping here very seriously...as we nearly were run over by motorized wheelchairs, scooters, and shopping buggies. I am not a huge shopper (are y'all shocked?), but it was definitely fun to experience! It was almost like the mall + the fair all rolled into one. Minus air conditioning.

This was the flea market area.

Who can spot the fanny pack?

Fresh squeezed lemonade...yes please!

Every time I saw an old piece of furniture, I thought "so and so blogger could totally refinish that!"

Note to self: sunglasses needed.

When we got back into town, we rested watched tv a little and then we went out to dinner at Outback. It is one of our favorite places! They serve the most amazing bread and we always order the blooming onion for an appetizer. Let's just say our eyes are always bigger than our tummies when we eat there!

Lunch the next day...check!

My leftover pasta - a Cajun dish with crawfish, shrimp, and mushrooms. AKA heaven in my mouth.
(Blogger keeps telling me to change crawfish to crayfish. It's crawfish, blogger, CRAWFISH!)

After dinner, we made a trip to a few of hubby's favorite places:

The truck dealership.

And the gun section at Dick's Sporting Goods.

My husband is such a cute redneck. : ) He makes me giddy.

Then we went to Target for moi and stopped to get my new obsession:

Frozen yogurt! This one is called "The Humphrey" and has fruit, granola, and honey. Delish!!

Last, but certainly not least, I forced hubby to take pictures with me!

We had such a wonderful weekend. I am so thankful that the Lord blessed me with such an amazing husband to go through life with. : ) I love you, honey bear!

Hope y'all have a great day!!

Love, love!!

Bad Wife

I have something to share with y'all.

The other day...our 6 month anniversary day to be exact...the hubby and I got into a huge fight. Well, actually I should say that I caused a huge scene. It was...(gulp) definitely my fault. Here's the shameful story:

We had decided to go to a flea market with the FIL on Saturday morning. Our goal time to leave the house was 7 am, which meant that I had to wake up at 5:30 am. I woke up on time and was actually in a pleasant mood. Then, a horrible series of events unfolded:

- My hair would NOT sit right on my head
- I could not find a dress to wear
- My nail polish that I had just painted chipped off
- I was running late

My hubby was actually quite understanding of these horrible events and only once said, "Hey baby, we gotta leave soon." So that's what started my temper... bad hair, no clothes to wear, and chipped nail polish. Then, I started getting hot...like menopause hot. Sweat + already fonky hair = worse temper.

I finally managed to get myself ready to leave (10 minutes late). My hubby was already outside waiting on me. I started walking towards the door to leave and he opened the door, saw me, and then shut it. Right in my face. Y'all...I saw red flashes and lightning bolts and chainsaws. I was SO MAD that he shut the door in my face. I flung that door open and I yelled, "How dare you shut the door in my face!!" I accidentally said a cuss word...and I never ever cuss. Ever. It was shameful.

This was surely what I looked like...via

My hubby must have either: 1) decided it wasn't worth fighting over or 2) seen the fire in my eyes because he just walked over to the truck and opened the door for me. I stomped over to the truck and made a huge ordeal getting in. I think I even threw my purse. When hubby got in, he said, "I thought you were going to set the alarm like you always do, that's why I shut the door."

Y'all know that moment where you realize that you are horribly, absolutely, positively wrong about something?? Yeah, I felt that. My heart sank to my feet. I think I stopped breathing for a second. The last person to leave always sets the alarm. Always. We rode in silence for about 5 minutes. That was as long as I could take it. Then, the tears started falling (from me, duh) and I apologized over and over and over. I was devastated that I had been so mean. My sweet hubby just said, "It's okay, baby, let's move on."

I made sure to give him lots of kissies.

Then, we were back to this...thank goodness!

All of this to say...it happens to the happiest of couples, it happens to the newest of couples, it happens over the most stupid things, and it happens at the most random times. Even though I am truly ashamed of the way I acted, I never want to forget it because I never want to repeat it. I fully believe in the need for arguing/fighting among couples, but it never needs to lead to yelling, calling each other names, cussing, or anything of that nature. Those fights are hard to move on from. I can't believe that I got so mad about something SO stupid.

Lessons learned: hubby is not out to get me. He loves me. : )

Dear sweet hubby, I love you and your easy going nature so much. Sometimes I just don't know how you put up with me. I am so glad that you do though.

Love easily, forgive quickly, speak slowly.

Love, love!

It's Been Six.

Yesterday was our 6 month wedding anniversary. I know everyone says this, but gosh it goes by SO FAST! Sometimes it still feels like we just got married yesterday. Marriage is everything that I ever thought it would be and nothing that I thought it would be. Does that even make sense??

Marriage is not perfect. It is completely imperfect...which is what is SO perfect about it. We laugh together, we cry together, we get mad at each other, and I pout...a lot. Marriage is the hardest thing that I've ever had to do, yet the thing that comes the easiest to me. I have never been happier in my life and I love my husband more today than I did on October 2, 2010. It's amazing how loves grows and deepens.

We had an absolutely amazing weekend...we were both lucky to be off all weekend together! I'll share about our weekend later. It was full of shopping, snuggles, and delicious food. What could be better??

I'd love to know y'alls best marriage advice. Whether you are married, engaged, dating, or single, we have ALL thought/dreamed about marriage. Share with me!

My advice:

- Your spouse HAS to come first. At all times. End of story.

Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Love, love!!

Skype + Stuffed Animals = Fun

It's Friday and my first day off since last Saturday! Woohoo!!

So far, I have slept in until 11 am (don't judge) and eaten Reese's. I know, I'm just living the great life. My next plans get a little crazy...I plan to blog and watch Lifetime.

My mom is in town for a couple days. My uncle is having surgery, so she is going to help watch my niece and nephew so that my aunt can take care of him. Prayers would be greatly appreciated for him! It is so great to have my mom in town...I am such a momma's girl. We went to eat at Applebee's last night with my grandma. It was karaoke night. We did not know that. Grandma did not appreciate it. Haha.

We are going to a flea market this weekend in Texas. I'm so excited. I've never been, but I've heard it's amazing. Anyone have any exciting plans??

I'm off to finish my busy day. (Sarcasm) I'm leaving y'all with a picture of my last Skype with Michaela:

We are dorks...we already know. (Yes, her video is clear and mine stinks. I'm aware.)

Hope y'all have a great weekend!! : )

Love, love!!

Catch the Ball

We have a new hobby. It's called "tennis." Here is what you do:

- Throw the tennis ball against the wall of the house
- Laugh at silly puppies trying to catch it

Sounds like fun, huh??

Cashmere in action.

Look at that concentration.

Getting some air.

Who says white girls can't jump?

This fun new game leads to tired puppies, which leads to happy mommy and daddy because they sleep soundly for the rest of the day/night. They are lazy...what can I say? Wonder who they get it from?

Diesel says hello!

Cashmere says we love y'all! (Doesn't she look drunk or something? Ha!)

I'm short and sweet today.

Love, love!!
