This Life

My friend passed away this weekend...the one I mentioned a few weeks ago. She found out about the cancer almost exactly a month ago. It's heartbreaking to lose someone, but I can take comfort in the fact that I know that she is in heaven and she is now pain free.

Her funeral is tomorrow and I've just been reflecting on life and living lately. We only get this one life. I know we say it all the time, but really, we never know when it will be our last day here. I want to make each day count, to grasp all the little moments of every single day, to make sure that all of my family and friends know how much I love them, to share God's love with every person that I come into contact with. It's so easy for this to become real when something bad happens, but I have really been praying for this to be present in my mind every single day. There is just no point in wasting one single day that we have been given.

But I don't fear death...none of us should if we are confident of where we are going. It's when we will be reunited with our Father in heaven and all suffering and pain is gone. It's a real "fairy tale." A "happily ever after." Oh, heaven, how good you are going to be.

I hope that all of y'all know Jesus and that I'll be seeing y'all in heaven one day. I consider each of y'all a friend, even if we will never meet in real life. We have all been placed in each other's lives for a reason. We share real emotions and feelings together. We share life together. I just want y'all to know that I am here for y'all if y'all ever need anything...to talk, a prayer, anything.

so sorry you lost your friend.. we lost a coworker last thursday from cancer as well..

its so bittersweet knowing they are no longer suffering, but no longer on earth with us physically. but i like to think of death as a see you later rather than a goodbye. thats what gets me through.

How incredibly sad. I will be praying for your friend's family.

It really does give you quite a reality check when someone passes... I have been doing a lot of reflecting lately, too. Especially with a baby, it is so important to make every day count.

You are so sweet. I'm praying for you through this tough time. And I view death the same way, as a happily ever after where I am finally able to LIVE and be without the weight of this world standing before Jesus. Oh, how amazing that is going to be :)

So sorry for the loss of your friend.

I am reminded every day of how temporary this life is. I love how you talk about Heaven as a "real life fairy tale...a happy ending." So true... I think everyone would live a little differently if we could all grasp the temporary-ness of this life and that death does not mean the end of an awesome life but the beginning of one better than we can ever imagine.

I am so, so sorry to hear about your loss. But rejoicing with you that your friend is meeting our Savior, how amazing! Sending prayers your way.

This post is beautiful by the way. I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason, even the little things like stumbling upon someone's blog. I love that you have offered yourself up as a resource of prayer to your readers, that is the best possible use I could think of for a blog.

Hope you're having a wonderful, wonderful day! Xo.

Thank you so much for this post. We do sometimes take this life we've been given for granted and I think we all needed that reality check from your post today! Thank you for such amazing words.

I couldn't agree more that we've been brought in each others lives for a reason and I truly cherish you!

So sorry to hear about your friend!! But what a comfort to know she with our Father in Heaven! I've unfortunately been to many funerals. This is going to sound ironic or odd, but the best funerals are the ones in which they celebrate because we will get to be with them again someday. Love you sweet friend and sister. Praying for all the friends and family <3
