My dad had a heart cath this morning and we found out that he has to have open heart surgery because he had a lot more blockages than they thought. It's pretty surprising for all of us because my dad is the picture of health. He's a vegetarian, eats totally healthy and exercises every single day. He's been like that for years. And even though I'm really familiar with all of the medical aspects of this, it doesn't make it any easier when it's your dad.

Please pray for my dad and his upcoming surgery tomorrow and his return to total health. Pray for the heart and hands of the surgeon and for all of the doctors/nurses that will be involved in his care.

Woah, what the heck?! It sucks when perfectly healthy people all of the sudden come down with something major. That's tough, I'm sorry. It could be worse though, thank goodness for all the medical breakthroughs that will help him become healthy enough to exercise everyday again!

I know how you feel. Last summer my dad went in for a routine physical and came out with the news that he had some sort of tumor/growth in his lung. After many biopsies and tests, they determined it was cancer. And in September (on my birthday actually) they went in to remove the tumor because they caught it early and it was confined to a small area. After it was removed, the did more tests on the tumor and found it was benign! I am so close to my daddy and to see him in the hospital completely broke my heart. It's never easy to see your childhood (and adult) hero in such a weak state.
But after what happened with my dad, I am even more sure than I was before that God answers prayers and that He works miracles daily! Praying for you, friend!

Megan: I know this is probably one of THE toughest things to see your dad go through but take it from someone who lost her dad from heart issues...be GLAD he's having the surgery done. Sure-it's a BIG deal but he will be perfectly fine after that so you just have to look at the big picture.
Dads are so special to us little girls, trust me, I know this too. If I had to do it all over again, I'd for darn sure make my daddy get on that table and have the surgery because chances are, he'd still be here today.
Love ya girly! Stay strong for your dad. He needs your support more than ever. And just remember, everything will be okay. :)

Megan, it's never easy when it's family. Sometimes I think being a nurse makes you aware of all the extra things that could come up, but I'm sure he'll take comfort knowing he has such a capable, loving daughter. I will definitely keep your dad and your family in my prayers. I can relate to how you must be feeling because my dad has been in your dad's shoes. My dad is now on the heart transplant list because there is nothing else that can be done at this point. So now we are just waiting and praying that he will get a heart before it's too late. I pray that God will be with the surgeons who operate on your dad. If you need to talk about it, even though you do not know me, I am more than willing to listen.
