Those Kind of Friends

There's one thing that I love about my friends...we have that perfect family type relationship where we are so comfortable together and there is no need to "entertain" each other. I love friends like that.

My two best friends came up to visit this past weekend and we ate at a delicious little sandwich shop, visited the library to get me a card (woohoo!) and spent the day sitting around my house catching up and just enjoying each other's company. It was so nice, like words can't even describe nice. There's something to be said for being comfortable with people.

We also celebrated my sweet friend Shan's birthday by making her bake her own cake for us. : )

You made yourself a good cake, Shan

Friends like that are so precious and can be so rare. I can tell by the way you talk about them that you have a special group of gals in your life. You're so blessed, my friend.

I LOVE friendships like this! Eric and I spent the weekend up north, in the town that we moved from 6 months ago, with all of our friends. Gosh, we have MISSED them!
On the drive home we were talking about how lucky we were to have made such amazing friends in the short year and a half that we lived there. There was one day in particular that just cracks us up...
It was a Sunday and I invited our friends over for dinner after church. They have 2 girls, ages 1 and 3. They came over and brought dessert with them! We ate dinner and then our husbands went to help a neighbor out for a bit. So we put on a disney show for the girls to watch while my friend and I just lounged and talked. When our hubs came back home they were seriously high off of all the cleaning fumes in the neighbor's home. They were crazy hilarious! For 10 minutes they were super hyper and laughing hysterically at everything. And then all the sudden... they were dead asleep on the couch. I can't even tell you how funny it was. Next thing you know, 4 adults and 2 little girls are all napping in our little living room! When we woke up Eric got dishes out of our dishwasher for dessert and JUST when we finished dessert I realized that we'd never washed the dishwasher. So we were totally using dirty plates and utensils to eat our dessert. SO GROSS! Eric and I should've been so embarrassed but we all just laughed and laughed.
I mean really... it is so hard to find friends who can laugh at a day like this!
