Last week, we ventured out to the fair at the request of my stomach. We went on one of the dollar admission nights, so to say that it was packed and crazy would be an understatement. But hey, when you're pregnant, food wins over crowds all the time.
We have a bit of an affinity for the fair, partly because of the delicious food, but mostly because that's where my husband told me he loved me for the first time...at the top of the ferris wheel. Major props to the hubs for that one. (Read the whole story here) Obviously we didn't ride any rides this year (can pregnant women even ride rides?), but we still had a lot of fun eating and people watching. Let's just say that some really interesting people hang out at the fair.

Side note: you can get ANYTHING fried at the fair. It is a little bit awesome and a little bit disgusting. Mostly awesome, though, let's be honest.

I don't do rides - at amusement parks or fairs. Even though I know the physics, I'm terrified of heights. However, I do love some funnel cake. :)
Rides and I are not friends. Can't do them. I go to fairs for the food, lol. But seriously funnel cakes and cotton candy is really why I go. I have yet to try fried Oreos but I can't wait! Hopefully next year!
Mmm. Now I want a funnel cake.

I know you can get these two things other places but there is just something about that fair grease that makes them taste sooo much better!

Fair food is the best. THE best.
Fried oreos are amazing! Pizza on a stick? We didn't have that at our fair and now I'm jealous! That is a dream come true. and no I can't do the rides for the exact reason of how fast they go up! Amusement parks never move their rides. They stay in one place forever. Fairs move them things across the country, who knows if all the screws end up with the right parts and what not. I'm just not taking any chances :)
Funnel cakes are a necessary fair food for me!
I usually do a few of the 'classic' rides at a fair... ferris wheel, scrambler, etc. But none of the REALLY crazy, flipping upside down crap... too scary for me at the fair! ;)
I will take some pizza on a stick for my lunch. Every day, starting... now ;)
I always think I want to go to the fair, but then I'm always depressed at how expensive things are! Scott gets motion sickness, so unless he takes medicine ahead of time, the fair isn't really a good idea (we found out the hard way!). And we don't really do much fried food...so...(I know, it's crazy!) But I do love funnel cakes!
Funnel cake + slushy frozen lemonade = my FAV dessert! My hubs and I have gone to the fair just for the food too :)

Man, this post makes me hungry! Could definitely go for the funnel cake and fried oreos right about now. Yep, I'd go to the fair just for the food. Cotton candy and caramel apples would be good too. No rides for me...my stomach can't take them. :-)
i'm not going to lie, i am completely terrified of the rides at fairs. if i'm going on a ride, it needs to be something permanently bolted to the ground. but i still go to the fair because there is nothing better than a corn dog, lemonade and funnel cake. some of the other food scares me a bit, they will batter and fry just about anything.
I love fairs :) and fair food! You're at the fair, so you have to pig out! I'll go on all the quickly put together rides except for the rollercoaster - I just don't trust them unless they're permanent fixtures at an amusement park like Disneyland!
Fair food!!!! I've never had anything besides a funnel cake! Please take me next year so we can indulge!!!

I LOVE rides...just not at the fair. I can't ride something that moves its location every 1-2 weeks. My hubby and I go to the Indiana State Fair every August to stuff our faces with all the yummy food. My favorite this year? Deep fried cookie dough...it was soooo delicious!!!
The fair always brings back such fun memories for me! Silly/creaky rides, fried food, and cheesy sideshows:-) Last year we saw the "world's" largest pig. it.was.awesome. xoxo
How sad is it that I STILL have never been to the TX State Fair?! Looks like a blast and it is such a super sweet story about how he told you he loved you at the top of the ferris wheel!!!

I love fairs! I am not afraid of the rides but I don't like most of them. I love roller coasters but those that just spin around make me dizzy!

I love && hate the fair. Love the food, the booths, etc. but the teeny boppers drive me batty :) yes I realize I was one of those once upon a time,, =\ hahahah! Mmm, I want fair food right now! :)
I'm not sure how you ate the funnel cake and fried oreos in the same sitting!! People from the south have the strongest stomachs! After my weekend in Texas I had a stomach ache for days from all the greasy food! haha :) Looks like such a blast!!
Oh my gosh... I am SO JEALOUS of all of that fried food! I want, I want, I want! And don't have access to any of it :( Good thing because I'd probably have heartburn for the next week, ha ha!

People watching is one of my favorite things to do at the fair!! Pizza on a stick?! Can you send that stand up to me please?? And all the fried sweet gooey goodness...yes, please.
I went to my first Texas fair a few weeks ago, and it was crazy the amount and variety of foods they had. I loved the funnel cake and turkey leg. I have too much of a weak stomach to try the weird things they had (picnic on a stick or the fried bacon cinnamon roll). Definitely a great place to people watch though!
I love the fair...AND its food!! :) We went to the state fair in 2008 when Chris and I were dating and had a fried grilled cheese sandwich and fried smores. They were heavenly!!
That food looks amazing! I tried a deep fried twinkie at the fair this year and oh my! Love! How cute that he told you he loved you for the first time on top of the ferris wheel!!

I will not ride rides at fairs, except the sky glider which is never taken down haha! I go for the food hands down! :)
